 Stand before fayre opened Pontefract Windfarm Action Group (PWAG) members had a display stand at the 2007 Darrington Feaste & Fayre held on Saturday 23 June 2007. The Feaste & Fayre was another huge success for the village and very well attended with visitors coming from miles away.Hundreds of people came to the stand to learn more about the application by Banks Developments to erect six 125m wind turbines on Went Edge between Darrington and Wentbridge.If planning permission is granted and these enormous wind turbines are erected they will be some of the tallest in Britain, taller even than Ferrybridge power station!

Plans for Saddleworth Moor wind farm scrapped |

BBC News reported on Saturday 12 May 2007 that plans for a controversial wind farm scheme near Saddleworth Moor have finally been scrapped. German Energy Company, E ON, had been applying for permission to build seven giant turbines on Denshaw Moor for more than four years. .jpg) (c) Indy Media Oldham's former Lib-Dem-led council gave the go-ahead for the plans four years ago, but the new Labour council rejected the scheme in February 2007.
