Wind farm rejected despite main road location |
|
Cambridgeshire councillors have shelved plans for a wind farm on visual grounds, even though it would have been next to a dual carriageway and pylons. 10 out of 12 councillors in the Conservative-dominated South Cambridgeshire Council voted against the wind farm, which would have provided electricity for a third of the homes in South Cambridgeshire.

Banks Developments apply for planning permission to build wind farm |
|
Banks Developments have now submitted their planning application for the erection of six wind turbines, highway access junction improvement and ancillary development. The proposal is to build these between Moor Lane and Westfield Lane. If this plan is approved the wind turbines, taller than Ferrybridge Power Station chimneys, will be able to be seen for miles.
How can you formally object to the proposals?
The planning application may be inspected in the Wakefield MDC Planning Offices (address below) or can be viewed on the internet by clicking here. The planning authority is required to take into account local opinions on the scheme; however any objections need to be recorded formally and must meet certain criteria.

Wind mast planning application |
|
On 23 January 2007 Banks Developments submitted a planning application to Wakefield MDC to erect a 60 metre high mast on agricultural land between Westfield Lane and the A1.
If approved, the wind mast, which has a anemometer at the top of the mast to measure wind speed, will be in situ for approximately two/three years. The Planning Application can be viewed on the Wakefield MDC Planning portal (http://planning.wakefield.gov.uk/publicaccess/). The Planning Application number is 07/00212/FUL. A decision is expected shortly.
