Stand before fayre opened Pontefract Windfarm Action Group (PWAG) members had a display stand at the 2007 Darrington Feaste & Fayre held on Saturday 23 June 2007. The Feaste & Fayre was another huge success for the village and very well attended with visitors coming from miles away.Hundreds of people came to the stand to learn more about the application by Banks Developments to erect six 125m wind turbines on Went Edge between Darrington and Wentbridge. If planning permission is granted and these enormous wind turbines are erected they will be some of the tallest in Britain, taller even than Ferrybridge power station!
Inside stand Many of the visitors to the stand filled in our standard objection letter, and left them with us. We will be delivering these letters to Wakefield MDC Planning Department during the next few days. So thankyou to all those who came to our stand and spent time talking to our PWAG members and telling us your views about this planning application. Many of our visitors, like PWAG and its members are in favour of renewable energy and wind turbines, but many, agan like PWAG and its members believe that Went Edge is not the right place for a windfarm.
